What if I'm not a teacher?

You don’t need to be a certified teacher to substitute – we always welcome them though! 

You can be a substitute teacher without a teaching certificate!

To keep our District running top-notch, we need substitutes for a variety of different positions. Teachers at all levels (Elementary, Middle & High School), Paraeducators, Clerical Support Staff, Noon Duty, Food Service, Security, Bus Drivers & Aides are always needed.

Each and every role is vital to RCAS!

The District uses an Absence Management program (Frontline Absence Management) that allows you to customize your schedule in advance and skip the early morning phone calls.

Additionally, as a substitute you are ensuring continuity and uninterrupted learning, contributing to the community, providing a positive role model, and offering social and emotional development to our students.

What are the requirements to be a substitute?

In order to be eligible for substitute teaching positions, you must have a minimum of 48 credit hours of college.

In order to be eligible for substitute hourly positions, you must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.

All candidates must also have:

  1. a favorable background check PRIOR to accepting substitute positions.

  2. two letters of recommendation
